Firm registration and Form ADV.
Index Gurus, Inc. is an investment adviser registered with the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI). Registration does not imply a certain level of skill or training, nor does it imply endorsement by the State of California. The firm may transact business in other states only where it is registered or exempt from registration.
Index Gurus, Inc. is a fee-only adviser and acts as a fiduciary when providing investment advice to clients, which means it is required to act in each client's best interest within the scope of the advisory relationship.
Where to find our official regulatory filings.
The Investment Adviser Public Disclosure (IAPD) website is the official public database of investment adviser filings, including those of state-registered advisers. You can review the following documents for Index Gurus, Inc. there:
- Form ADV Part 1: registration information, including ownership, business activities, and disciplinary history
- Form ADV Part 2A: the firm brochure, describing services, fees, conflicts of interest, and advisory practices
- Form ADV Part 2B: the brochure supplement for individuals who provide advisory services
View our filings on IAPD: the Index Gurus, Inc. record (CRD 131014) is available at adviserinfo.sec.gov. You can also search by firm name at adviserinfo.sec.gov. Form ADV Part 2A and Part 2B are also available from us on request at no charge.
We encourage every prospective and existing client to review these documents. They are the authoritative regulatory record of the firm. If anything on this website differs from our Form ADV, the Form ADV controls.
Advisory services, custody, and fees.
Written agreement.
Personalized advice is provided only after a client enters into a written advisory agreement. Discovery calls and preliminary proposals offered at no cost are informational and do not create an advisory relationship.
Non-discretionary management.
Index Gurus, Inc. provides investment management on a non-discretionary basis. We recommend investment changes, and trades are placed only with the client's approval.
Custody of client assets.
Client assets are held in the client's own name at an independent qualified custodian, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. Index Gurus, Inc. does not hold client funds or securities. Where a client authorizes advisory fees to be deducted directly from an account, the firm follows the safeguards required by California regulations for that arrangement. Clients receive account statements directly from the custodian and are encouraged to review them and compare them with any reports or fee statements they receive from us. Index Gurus, Inc. is independent and is not affiliated with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.
Fees.
Standalone financial planning engagements are billed as a fixed fee, starting at $2,950. Ongoing investment management is billed as an annual percentage of assets under management for households with $1 million or more in investable assets. Retirement plan engagements may include a plan-setup fee and an ongoing advisory fee. Third-party actuarial, recordkeeping, custodial, and fund expenses are separate. The complete fee schedule and billing practices are described in Form ADV Part 2A.
Conflicts of interest.
Fee-only compensation removes the conflicts that come with selling commission-paying products, but it does not remove every conflict. Material conflicts are described in Form ADV Part 2A. Among them:
- Asset-based fees. Because investment management fees are based on assets under management, the firm earns more when more assets are under its management. This can create an incentive, for example, to recommend against withdrawing assets to pay down debt or to fund other goals.
- Custodian services. The firm may receive services from its custodian, such as research, software, and operational support, that benefit the firm and may not benefit every client. These arrangements are described in Form ADV Part 2A.
- DrawDownIQ. DrawDownIQ is withdrawal tax modeling software developed and owned by Index Gurus, Inc. and licensed to other registered investment advisory firms. The firm uses it in client planning work. Because the firm owns and earns revenue from this software, the firm has an interest in its use; this business activity is described in Form ADV.
- Referrals. We may suggest CPAs, attorneys, actuaries, or other professionals for a client to consider. We do not receive compensation for these referrals.
We accept no commissions, referral fees, or product-placement payments.

Risk disclosures and forward-looking statements.
General educational nature of website content.
Information on this website is general and educational and is provided for informational purposes only. Nothing on this website constitutes personalized investment, financial, tax, legal, or retirement plan design advice, or an offer to buy or sell any security. Personalized advice is provided only through a formal advisory engagement governed by a signed written agreement.
Illustrative examples and hypothetical scenarios.
Scenario models, sample portfolios, sample planning-software screens, hypothetical projections, and illustrative dollar figures on this website are educational only and do not represent the experience of any specific client. Results for any household depend on its actual circumstances, the tax law and IRS limits in effect, and the market environment.
Monte Carlo simulations.
Monte Carlo simulations, including the Confidence Zone planning range, are hypothetical in nature, do not reflect actual investment results, and are not guarantees of future results. Results vary with each use and over time, depend on the assumptions used (including assumed returns, inflation, and volatility), and do not capture every risk.
References to client situations.
Descriptions of types of client situations and categories of work the firm has performed illustrate the range of work Index Gurus, Inc. undertakes. They are not testimonials, do not represent the experience of any specific client, and should not be read as a promise of similar outcomes.
Investment risk.
All investments involve risk, including the possible loss of principal. Diversification does not guarantee a profit or protect against loss. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Concentrated single-stock positions, including employer stock, carry substantial risk of loss. The firm's Innovation Moat approach tends to emphasize large-cap companies in growth sectors and may be less diversified than a broad index; actively managed portfolios may underperform their benchmarks. Strategies such as hedging, exchange funds, and charitable trusts involve costs, restrictions, and risks and are not appropriate for every investor.
Forward-looking views and market outlook.
The firm's Current Outlook, published on the Active Investment Management page, and other market views on this website reflect the firm's opinions as of the date stated and are subject to change without notice. They are not forecasts or recommendations of any specific security or sector; actual market outcomes may differ materially.
Tax law and regulatory references.
References to IRS limits, tax law, Medicare IRMAA thresholds, contribution limits, RMD ages, and similar rules reflect the rules in effect as of the date of publication. These rules change, and their application depends on each household's circumstances. Index Gurus, Inc. does not provide tax or legal advice; tax-related strategies described on this website should not be acted on without consulting a qualified tax professional.
Third-party products and trademarks.
This website references third-party products and services, including Envestnet MoneyGuide® planning software (screens used with permission) and Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. as custodian. These references are factual and do not constitute an endorsement of Index Gurus, Inc. by those third parties. Third-party trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

Index Gurus, Inc. and Faruk Jaffer may maintain profiles on social media, such as LinkedIn. Content posted there is general and educational and is not personalized advice. Comments, reactions, or endorsements posted by others are not adopted or approved by the firm and should not be read as testimonials about the firm's advisory services.
